Ten Things I never want to forget about my paternal Grandmother
- How she would put up every drawing my brother and I did in the kitchen.
- How she would watch Winnie the Pooh with us over and over.
- How she always gave us coconut macaroons and miniature pickles even though my parents said we couldn’t have anymore.
- How she’d call us to the window each time the guinea hens came walking through the park.
- Her laugh.
- Her incredible skill with knitting and crocheting.
- Her awesome ham dinners.
- Her soft, pale hands.
- How she’d play monopoly and cars with us.
- How she’d always wave goodbye to us from the window when we were getting in the car at the end of the night.

10 reasons why I hate my new job
- You get no breaks. Somehow the restaurant industry bypasses the 30-minute-per-4-hours rule.
- Low-ass wages.
- Barely any time to eat/not allowed to eat until it’s not busy. Have had jellybeans for dinner twice now.
- Not allowed to sit down. As in, there are no places for us to sit down.
- The back area where we are allowed to stand and wolf down a snack is pretty much right next to the dishwashing area, which is a disgusting cesspit of waterlogged food residue.
- The manager is rather unapproachable.
- Carrying plates all the time makes your arms ache like no other. And sometimes seize up.
- Double shifts. Where you work both morning AND evening shifts with like a 2 hour break in between. I haven’t had to do one yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
- We’re not allowed to schedule Saturdays off as they are the busiest night—you must be available every Saturday unless you talk to the manager.
- I’ll probably be working both days on weekends for a while.
